Beginnings

Allow me to introduce my blog, Scribbles. But Scribbles sounds more like a cat than a cyber-tablet of profound thought (isn’t that what I want this to be?). And not even a nice cat. The sort of cat that would sneak behind the sofa and ruin otherwise pristine wood floors. I can’t see this blog doing that.

Allow me to introduce my blog, Sunday Musings. But that’s too . . . I’m not sure what it’s too. I don’t like it. This is not an important blog. This is not a me-baring-my-soul blog (if I can help it). This is me thinking out loud about writing, me responding to questions I’ve been asked about writing (some frequently, some not), and me goofing off and amusing myself in writing. But whatever you (oh, reader) might find here, you can expect it to focus on, spring off of, or dance around, the subject of writing. And I don’t know what to call it. Blog on Writing (BoW)? Musings on Writing and Stuff (MoWaS)? Fuschia Breeze. Love and Typing. Literary allusions could be groovy. Proteal Prose. Much Ado. Heffalumps and Woosels. The Blog and the Fury.

Steve: a blog.

For now. That’s it. For now.

Well, whatever you end up referring to your blog as, it sounds like it should be somewhat intriguing. ;) It was just kind of a happenstance that I ran into this blog in the first place.

I was just listening to the audio book version of “100 Cupboards”. I had run across the title while perusing the libraries downloadable audiobook selection and it had piqued my interest. I had wondered if it would be something my son and/or daughter might enjoy. After listening to it for nearly thirty minutes or so while doing other things, I must say it is very enjoyable. I love your style and will have to look into your other offerings as well. I will definitely pass it along to my children, although in book form. Actually, I most likely will finish enjoying it in book form as well–it just feels better that way.

Keep up the good work and am looking forward to your “flow of conscience”-esque blog.

I vote for the Heffalumps and Woosels. You probably do not remember me but we met when you were doing your book signing in Highlands Ranch (Denver) Colorado. I am the one with 10 brothers in Ca. Anyway I finished 100 cupboards and have to say it was great. I look forward to the other books in the series and to seeing what you have to say on the blog.

How about “The Writer’s Angle” (as opposed to The Angler’s Rest). Is that close enough to a literary allusion?

Looking forward to reading your thoughts on writing.

Hello, you don’t know me but I have met your mother-n-law and father-n-law and some of your other relatives out in CA. I was out there for three months visiting a friend and I have a friend here in Indiana (which is where I live) who knows your mother-n-law.

Anyway, your in-laws told me of you and your books and finally I bought “100 Cupboards” and read it in about two days. I loved it!!! I thought it was engaging, imaginative, and unpredictable. I hate reading books that are predictable. This book you have no idea where exactly it will go and how it will end. I look forward to reading your other books. I am curious how you came up with the idea. I met your in-laws one afternoon down at the coffee shop near the beach. Some days before that while walking at the beach with my friends 6 year old, we found or rather she found while wading in the water, a huge amount of cash floating in the water. It was an adventure.

Well, I did enjoy your book and I look forward to reading more!!!

God bless

YAY, so glad you’ll be blogging!

Ditto to the “YAY” comment.

I think you should call it “Sunset Dawn” or “Freezing Hot,” something original and exciting like that. Maybe have a logo of Calvin with a mean face doing something mean, something original like that. Maybe a bird, or a dinosaur. “No Fear” or something about Bugle Boy jeans.

I mean Calvin, friend of Hobbes, by the way. Although…

I like the idea of John Calvin. Sounds, well…………cool.
