So, I’ve often been told that you have to write what you know (incidentally, this has always made me feel burdened to know everything). As a side effect, whenever I get to know something, I feel the need to write it. Last week, while picnic-researching a potential location along the northern coast of California, I came to an understanding of what is meant by the phrase “elephant seal.” I now present you with some evidence of my research (complete with family).
At this point, I can almost promise the elephant seals an appearance in some future adventure.

*Grin* I know someone who says, “Write what you want to know.” It had been pretty good advice for me.

An elephant seal, I can’t wait to read about him in a future adventure. I think I am looking forward to what his name will be. How do you choose names for your characters?

Yet another one of the many reasons that Northern California is so much better than Idaho…

Oooh! Oooh! If you’re ever giving away a raggant, I want one!
(BTW, I want a raggant, not the elephant seal.)

Off subject, but I picked up a copy of Dandelion Fire yesterday and am LOVING IT! You outdid yourself! I’m impressed!! I read a line and thought, “Ooo! This is where things shift and change and what the rest of the book hinges on!” on pg220 (or 200 something) and was so excited to dive back in and see where you take it! I haven’t finished yet, but I’m enjoying the experience and am impressed so far!
Enjoy California!! It’s home to a lot of people who love your work!

As an Elephant Seal, I look forward to our kind featuring in your upcoming work.
My aunt Penelope (pictured), said to let you know that she felt you took the photo at an unflattering angle.

This is off subject, but I was wondering how you pronounce Nimiane. I pronounced it Ni-my-an-ee but that didn’t sound right.

My husband and I have been to the beach along Highway 1 where the elephant seals go for…social interaction. It was loud and smelly and absolutely wonderful!
I hope y’all also went up to Hearst Castle since it is so nearby. The sheer scale of opulence is breathtaking. Plus, wild zebra!

Cool! I was playing around with google, and i looked up pictures of the raggant. I got the raggant from the top of this page, some other stuff, and that picture! I looked at the picture on your post and I did a double take! Once again, cool!
