Say Hello to Henry York: The Chestnut King Christmas Giveaway (THE CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED)

The time has come (and not just because the walrus said), to talk of many things. The tale of Henry York is coming to an end next month when The Chestnut King releases on January 26. No more hanging threads, no more wondering what happens next. No more secrets. This . . . is the end. And I think it’s a good one. I’ll write more about the actual story when the book releases, but for now, I know that there are many folk and folklings out there who have been waiting patiently and impatiently for this book. I’m glad, and quite grateful to you all. And in an attempt to make that wait end sooner–before Christmas, say–I’m going to give away four (4) copies of The Chestnut King right here, in the comments on this post. Random House is going to overnight me four (4) finished copies as soon as they come off the presses on December 15. I will then inscribe them to the winners (or to the winners’ children), and hit the Post Office, getting them to mailmen (or men in brown shorts) who will in turn get them to your door. You will be responsible to get them beneath the tree.

The rules: leave a comment, any comment, one comment only, please. (Multiple family members can enter–there is no age or height requirement). Wait until December 15. On that day, at noon (PST) I will stick every comment into a hat (or maybe a large pot), and then select four (4) winners. The announcement of the winners will go up in this blog by the end of that day.

(Sidenote to my friendly readers around the world: this is an international contest. Comment away. But I can’t assure delivery before Christmas.)

Cheers and Double Cheers and Merry Christmas. Ready, set, fire.

First comment! First entry!

Ooh! Ooh! Pick me! Pick me!

Brittany Petruzzi

I hereby enter this contest in hopes that thesis doesn’t kill me before Christmas Break arrives.

This is my comment: Whatever you do, don’t give it to John Ahern.

I want one! And there’s no such thing as chance, so you should pick my name out of the hat and get it over with.

DA

Spencer DeBurgh

Pick me.

I like how you stuck (4) in after each instance of the world Four. Very professional. I would also like to add that I have never won this sort of contest in my life, so fate owes me one here.

Camilla Allison

Marvelous. I would like one (1) very much.

You’ve opened the cupboard of my heart! Thank you so much!

I don’t own either of the first two books. So, if you give me a copy of your new book, I may just buy the other two and read them first…

Wow! My four children are already counting the days to January 26. What a pleasant surprise if The Chestnut King were under the tree early! I certainly don’t have children who fight, but they are politely trying to decide who gets to read it first! Hah!

Pick me- fella.

Our whole family is so anxious to read this book. Since God determines the roll of the dice and the name you will pick out of the hat, prayers in this home have already begun.

Did you know that your books are better enjoyed when read aloud? Just thought I’d ask…

Oh, and I’d like one too please.

Please! I’m eight. Please!

Mackenzie Abell

I would love to win a copy. God has everything planned, so I’m hoping that he planned for me to win. :)

Contests are fun. So are books. I’m entering a contest to win a book. Just how cool is that!

Yes, please

I’m in the hat! Or the pot. Or whatever.

(Hi, Spencer DeBurgh – funny seeing you here. Sincerely, Morgan [Light] Higgins.)

*Squeals and clasps hands in anticipation* Oooh!!! Mr. Wilson, in the spirit of C. S. Lewis, with all due respect…you’re a brick! Thanks!

God bless,
~Hannah L.

Color me in the “waiting impatiently” category!

If you pick me, I’ll be your best friend and we can sit together at lunch.

Pots are better than hats.

My dad likes pots more than hats. I like hats.

My husband prefers pots. I don’t like paper dirtying the pots. put mine in the hat.

My parents like pots or hats. I like Pots and hats. My brother is confused.

We’d love to have this new book sit on our shelves next to your other books, after we read it — of course!

Oh, this is exciting.

I knew you’d pick mine.

Go, Bucks!
Beat the Ducks.
Like “on a pond,”
Quiet their clucks.
Throw ‘em in the back o’ the truck.

What’s a buckeye? It’s a nut.
For it I strut and sometimes sing.
I hope I win The Chestnut King.

Looking forward to finishing the series!

Hello Henry York.

It would be awesome to get the final book of this series in my little hands by Christmas :)

Happy Holidays!

Super Merry Christmas!

can’t wait to start The Chestnut King!

I liked your other books; they were cool. Merry Christmas!

We have sure enjoyed the first books in this series! Looking forward to this one. I’m tempted to write a really long comment so that you can’t but miss picking this one out. Hmmm…..

Some day I will be old enough to read and understand this book and until then I’m hoping to get a free copy. :)

Err, right. Here’s my comment.

Rachel Mullisen

You said anyone in the family and I’m over a year old. I love kitties so I know I will love this book someday.

I just finished reading 100 Cupboards to my 6 year old daughter – she can’t wait to hear the other books!

Yep, I’m one of the 3 girls in this family. Hopefully this will increase our chances dramatically.

Here goes. My family and I loved the others. : )

Can’t wait

Wonderful.

If I don’t get the book, may I have a Raggant with a little Santa hat?

Chestnut comment.

Catherine Tando

Ooh! Ooh! I hope you pick me!

I deserve it because I am “entitled” to it. If I don’t get one then there will be an investigation…I’ll call Harry Reid and then we will see who laughs last. Ha!

please pick me.

That is one thing I would definitely love to get for Christmas. :D

Love to have a Christmas copy!

Recognizing only one name before mine….

Book plated copies of the first two are in my care… may this continue.

Commentius!

What a great series!

Please place this comment into a hat (or maybe a large pot), and then select it… May the four (4) elect comments win!

I am honored to enter your contest. I am humbled by your magnanimousness. I hereby nominate you for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Here’s the ofs entry.

I am a 12 yr old young lady, and although I try to be patient, I cannot wait for the book in January! Please pick me! This is one of my favorite series.

I am the 7 yr old brother of Macy, and if I get it I will give it to her as a Christmas present.

Matthew N. Petersen

A free raffle? I’d like to enter.

ooh what fun!

The winner is…me.

…no me.

Elizabeth Anderson

Looking forward to the next book, whether I win or not. Thanks for all your hard work.

‘mon, me.

One of the many hopefuls.

Don’t think so, me.

Time can’t fly fast enough.

me really.

i would love to win

Hi, Macy! Hi, Trey!

We’re hoping for a hot-off-the-press copy for Christmas. If we win, we’ll let Macy borrow it!

Moselle Anderson

Hello Henry York!

We love the series and have all the others! Keep up the good work!

If hate keeps man alive, I better not love this book as much as I think I shall.

I want Henry York at my house for Christmas!

I like books, especially good ones.

I don’t like chesnuts. Kings can be O.K. I rather enjoy chesnut kings.

My 12 year old brother wants this for Christmas…

Lydia vonderLuft

:-)

Seth Bloomsburg

See he’s gonna pick me cuz I actually visit him at his office hours where he’s all cold and lonely.

I would love a free book.

pick me!

or me!

Hoping to draw the short straw…

Hope I’m one of the four that gets picked!

Well I am sitting in my room eating dried apples. There is a whiteboard next to me with Acts 9:37,40-43 written on it. Not that those things have something to do ith anything but… I wish to be happily surprised in about a week! Maybe because of acquiring a new book? For free? Yes!

Pick us, please

Me?

This would be my first Nate Wilson book.
Thanks!

I’d love a copy!!!

I’d like to have one please!

Dear Mr.Wilson
My name is caleb salmon and I am nine.I love your books and I finished Dandelion fire in three days.
I hope that your next book will succeed dandelion fire, leepike rige, and one-hundred cupbords in greatness.

Josh Christensen

In addition to rounding out an already-purchased set being given as a Christmas gift, this would give me the chance to read the entire trilogy over winter break, a most welcome change of pace from law school exams. January will simply be too late, you see; I’ll be buried in casebooks again by then . . .

Ba dum bum bum, I’m lovin’ it!

me

I’m reading dandelion fire over christmas

In the ground the best seed is never wasted.

Could I have this book please?

It just has to be me! Oh please, Oh please, Oh please.

Merry Christmas!

I went to a book signing with my family once for Dandelion fire and I hadread either of them. I had finished both before the week was over

Please pick me!

I really want the book!!!!! :)

Let it be me!

Third time’s a charm. I would appreciate it greatly.

My husband and I need new material to read aloud to each other!

Here’s to hoping for a great Christmas gift!

Please pick us! We need a new book to read out loud.

Sorry, just made a comment and spelled it wrong. I meant to say “I had not read either of them”

You will select this comment.

Just listened to the first book during road trip, so we’ll put this in for the kids. But I guess it will just have to go in the family library, since it would be hard to split up among everyone!

I love this series and you other books. Keep em coming.

Seth Bloomsburg

Hmm, is Henry VIII of York the Chestnut King?

Our family loves these books. My girls even have a key that they carry around the house that they refer to as Grandfather’s Key.

If my name is picked, by the time it gets here, it’ll be released in the US anyway. So in order to ensure everyone gets to read it at the same time, it’s only fair that you make sure that I am the one picked.

Yours sincerely,
Paul Huxley (aka the whimpering adult).

Ooh! pick me! pick me!

Kathleen Abraham

oh! I want a copy!

Hope springs eternal – lets try this again.

It would be a great b’day present, for me that is.

Elisabeth Elliot once said that as a child she would try for the last cookie on the plate by asking, “Does anyone want this more than me?” I’m sure no one wants this book more than me. Really. No one.

Inspired by Doug Wilson to enter… and a very blessed Christmas to you. :)

that thing on the bed strangely resembles my dog

I’d like an entry!

A new book!

womanofthehouse

Count me in!

here is my entry…=D

Here’s hoping!

My son would LOVE it!

Lawrence Kelley

“I never win these things, but losing keeps me humble.” Eeyore

What a wonderful gift for my son who likes Harry Potter way too much!

I like the walrus, even when he eats oysters. I am, in fact, a personal friend of the walrus, since I am the eggman. And according to the walrus, I should get a copy of your book.

Goo goo g’joob.

Hmm. What shall I say. Oh well dosen’t matter what I say as long as you pick me.

The kids all have this one on their Christmas lists!

Christina Atwood

Merry Christmas!

There is absolutely no reason to pick me!

I’m not quite sure what Helen said, but I think it means I get it.

At this point something witty should be inserted, but “I an an engineer” so it is too late for me.

A book giveaway? How smashing!

I love chestnuts. Kings are tolerable.

Hi, Can’t wait to read it!

Looking forward to this…

I think you’ll have to use a large pot, not a hat, the tally is reaching 150 comments. Merry Christmas!

Pick me! Pick me! I love both of those books (and Leepike, too). I wanna know what happens to Henry, Mordecai, Henrietta and everybody else sooo bad!

Hi! I want a book.

Happy Holidays

Thanks for helping my children to see. Merry Christmas!

A sentence for the cause!

This is a lot like gambling, but it costs less to lose.

I have no idea what to write.

Mom made me.

My birthday is five days after the giveaway.

I loved the first two and can’t wait for the third. Thank you!

Yay for the new book!

Got the first two. Been holding off reading them till this one comes out. Looking forward to it. (And writing without personal pronouns.)

HO. HO. HO. IS THIS JOLLY?

Ici, ici – je veux lire Le Roi des Marrons!

The amount of people on here is depressing.

Yo J.K. Rowling I’m really happy for you and imma let you finish but N.D. Wilson has written the best series of all time.

We’re going to see if we can have a few more kids before the fifteenth…

I’ll be needing a copy for my four-month-old daughter, Phoebe, when she learns how to read! Hehehe, I’m a planner! Merry Christmas!!

I am very excited about this.

I’d almost feel guilty if I won since I won Dandelion Fire, but not too guilty to accept, so here’s my comment.

I want to win.

The end? That’s kind of sad. Cheers!!

Jonathan Soderberg

I beg your pardon. Is this the location to leave a comment?

Rayia Soderberg

I love N.D. Wilson’s writing! I can’t wait to read the next one!

The Christian world is a very tiny thing. You can scroll through this list and see so many names that are familiar, and a few that are dear. It is a beautiful thing that demonstrates the nature of the family of God. It will also make my gloating that much sweeter if I win the book.

I am 8 and I love Christmas a lot!

Je ne sais pas écrire, mais mon père peut le faire pour moi. J’aimerais connaître cette histoire du Roi des Marrons !

gimmee, gimmee, gimmee – c’mon!

I am seven. myna me isAshley.

i am five. i am real excited for 100 cupboards!

I’d like to enter!

Dear NDW,
I am your biggest fan, and stuck around Moscow an extra year just to take part in this random drawing… which actually I didn’t have to stick around to enter. Feel bad for me. Pathos pathos pathos. Also, Mr David F, what Helen meant was that she was the eggHEAD. Ha!

Keep ‘em coming, Nate.

Katie Travis and the Egghead would both give it to me anyways. Let’s just skip the middle-man.

Here’s hoping…

I enjoy the smile on my son’s face when he is reading one of your books!

Waiting is sooooo hard!

Anne Marie Kloss

Pick me, Nate!

My brother has been finding it difficult to wait…until January. December would be so much sooner.

I can’t wait to read your books and hope to be one of your students next year in that paradise of professing professors, NSA. You are one of the best Christian fiction writers I have read in a long time, especially from recent times.

Merry Christmas to you and yours,

David H.

Good thing for father linked to this page! Great fan right here.

Here’s hoping Chestnut King is worthy of 5 Goodreads stars.

yipppppppeeeeeeee! I like commenting.

Christine Stokes

Thanks for the contest!

thanks Nate!

here’s hoping…

Hello, um… well… Hi.

Hi Mr. Wilson. Thanks for writing these books. I love them!

I love your books, they are really good.

Hi Mr. Wilson. Thanks for writing these books. I love them a ton!

I’ll take it!

David will do hip hop if we win a copy. :)

And Papa will even wear a Bears shirt while he does it.

your book would be treasured 10 fold (yes, by all ten of the Story clan)—

Ditto!

I am going to leave a comment, and I am actually going say something comment-like, unlike the others above.

Nate, thanks for visiting Phoenix, AZ earlier this year for a reading and book signing. If you plan on doing so again next year, you are welcome at our school or church to speak and we’ll even let the publicist set up a table wither his/her fancy glossy poster boards. I’ll make a hubbub.

I will also have my wife leave a comment, but I can’t justify my five-year-old girl doing so. She is still learning to type.

Your book would be enjoyed 10 fold (as in by the story family 10 :)

Jacob is my husband; he keeps ranting over here about some sort of amazing book to be won. Please pick one of us!

If I don’t win Christmas will be ruined! Well, maybe not quite ruined.

Yyyyyyesssssss!

If you pick me, I’ll be your best friend!

I met you in Columbus, OH — that has to count for something!!! :)

I’m 15 and I hope to write a book like yours someday.

We’re gonna have to come up with something better than a Nobel Peace Prize, since Obama got one. My girls love Nate

Yay! I tried bribing your lovely mother with hand-embroidered handkerchiefs so that she would lend me her copy of Dandelion Fire when it came out. So I would love to have a copy I didn’t have to wait for!

Commenter

This pitch came so fast, I got all choked up.

My kiddos would love it!!!

We are on the edge of our seats!

Our family can’t wait to hear the rest of the story!

What a lovely Christmas present this would be!!! I would be so very happy to win a copy of the book, though I am afraid I will be so sorry for it all to come to an end. Thanks for the opportunity!

Elizabeth Sensing

Please pick us!

Pretty please with sugar on top.

Charlotte Gardner

Me!!!

I do hope that pot is large enough to accommodate all these entries!

Good name for the main character.

Wow…. 229 comments…. I think you’ll need a stew pot….. Count me in! I’ve been sitting in the edge of my seat for seven months and I am ready to move into a different position…..

excuse me, I meant ‘on’ the edge of my seat :)

If i win, can i get a refund for the one i pre-ordered?

My 7-year-old says, “Please!”

Internation Entries! You are very fair minded. I was trying to work out how much it might be to post it to Australia and whether I could offer to pay the postage so I could get it a month or two earlier.

But you are willing to send it international. As we say down here, Good on you, mate.

I’m entering on behalf of my daughter, we read 100 (one hundred) Cupboards and Dandelion Fire together. So she would have entered when she got home. But I just wanted to say maybe we’ll get The Chestnut King in Australia before those Stateside, because a local bookshop website has The Chestnut King listed and says, “Usually Ships in:
5-21 Days”

In 5 (five) days I could have my copy before you have your four (4)

Christopher Miller

I’m in.

Brett Flenniken

I’m reading Notes from the Tilt a Whirl….terrific! Looking forward to reading it and Chestnut King with my boys!

My son Henry is gonna love this

I love to read and I especially love these books.

Count me in and Merry Christmas!

Jesus said, “What do you want me to do for you?”
Tim replied, “Lord, if you are willing, let me win The Chestnut King.”

oh, yes please! Signed too perhaps?

I’m repairing the ruins in Nashville. Life is tilt-a-whirlicious.

If only I could buy it before Christmas…

I have just decreased everybody else’s chances of winning by about… let’s see here….

4/240 = .0166666
4/241 = .0165975
.0166666 – .0165975 = 0.0000691

0.00691% (Your odds are slightly better in both cases because the same person can’t win twice, but I was too lazy to calculate it all out and I probably won’t be number 241 by the time I post this anyway.)

D. P. Southwell

Trying to figure out something creative to say. But creativity will win me nothing, will it? The hat (or the pot, perhaps) cares nothing for creativity. Thus please enter my uncreative comment.

PS – I love the first two, and (as an aspiring writer) have learned much. Thanks.

Abigail Lundelius

I don’t need chestnuts roasting on an open fire this Christmas, I just need a Chestnut King in my hands. :)

I’m trying to read Blue Like Jazz. PLEASE save me and send me a new book. Else I’ll have to start in to NFTTAW. Again. Not that that would be a problem though. :-)

Why was the stadium so hot at the end of the football game?…..

…. All the fans had left….

Merry, merry, merry Christmas!

Ankthay orfay ouryay ardhay orkway…

Just trying to keep up with the Foucachons and their French. Alas, I am monolingual or unilingual.

Curse you Aquascum!

wählen Sie mich aus!
just wanted to say it in German.

My daughter would LOVE a copy for Christmas!!!

Ooh, ooh! My kids would love to have a copy! :D

Commenting.

SWEET BIPPY!

Elisabeth Hoffer

Books are foes to true remembering…. so bring on the amnesia.

Please please please…I can’t wait until Jan 26th to find out the end! I would LOVE to read this under the Christmas tree!!!

The family would be delighted to have a copy for Christmas.

I have no good reason for you to pick me over anyone else.

You have fantastic books!

Oo, the Gamache family sure would love this early . . . and inscribed!

Who are all these people? Of course you should pick us. Or Gail. I want to see David do hip hop.

I am two (2) and my favorite book right now is The Dragon and the Garden. I carry it around and stare at the dragon. I’m going to be listening when Mommy and Daddy read The Chestnut Kind out loud. And I love packages of any sort, so if I don’t win you could send me a paperclip or pencil. I’d love that too.

I’m just starting to walk and I would like to chew on a copy of The Chestnut Kind.

We’ve read aloud the first two, and the worst part is coming to the end and beginning another wait! Looking forward to reading this one.

Delaine Gamache

Thanks for bringing so much joy to our family reading times!

Meeeeeee!

The question is do I feel lucky. Well do I.
Preston was pretty psyched when he heard Chestnut was being released; don’t deny the child.

Blessings on your work.

Here’s hoping…

Janelle Duchemin

I will send you a paperclip AND a pencil, Jubilee whether you win or not.

You just inspired me to comment on a blog for the first time. Although the number of people already on here is truly depressing. Love your books.

Comment.

Wait, did someone already use that one?

Brittany Martin

We want one too!

I declare, “Bankruptcy!” Not really. Pick me!

Pick me!

Too many people are signing up!! :)

Put me in the drawing!

I’m leaving a comment! :)

Thanks!

Whew! Here is a comment before the 10th. By a nose.

i’ve never won anything…ANYTHING. so here goes…

1 in 288. Better than the state lottery.

Enter me please. Thanks! 8)

Kelsey Chambers

Merry Christmas!

Valerie Foucachon

Ooh! Then I would have something decent to read over break!

Here I am, checking in and bringing down the odds for others, how selfish of me.

I think the white gumdrops taste the best. The orange and yellow ones are my least favorite. Same with gummy worms. The white and red ones take the cake.

Another Okimoto vying for the prize.

My children are waiting for this book. Let us open the book soon so we may be taken away.

Here’s hoping……! My son Andrew has loved your books and would love a copy of the newest for Christmas.

Double Cheers back to you!

I think you have been our favorite local author to speak to our bookgroup!

would love this under the tree

My son CJ reads your books to our family while we travel or when we’re all together at home(like we will be this Christmas). So the timing would be great for us!!!

If I don’t win, will you send me a signed copy after the release date? Thanks

Cheers to you and yours…

Mr. Wilson, You rock!

Mr. Wilson,

You rock!

I found a dandelion in our yard this fall.

I posted a compliment to Mr. Wilson and the website says that the comment has to await moderation. Hmmmm?

This is a comment. Seems obvious enough, eh? However, we all know authors are not always as subtle as their readers, so…

This is a terrific series and I am very very VERY excited about what happens next. Pick me! (My brother will likely post too, and we’ll share the book if we get it.)
Tell the Cupboard folk hi for me. Convey my greetings especially to Henrietta.

Thanks for this opportunity my sisters will probably comment too…. We’re all huge fans!

Duuuude!

We love the cover. Merry Christmas!

Ooh fun! We Breeses hereby enter the fray…

Beren wants to us to read the Chestnut King aloud to him! :D

What could be better than a free book? …a book stock full of green imagination!?

I’d love a copy! Merry Christmas!

My children love these books.

Thanks for this opportunity!

For my daughter (and when she finishes it – for me!)….

I think you’re going to need a big hat.

That was a great choice in the second book to have the arrow from Ramoth-Gilead show up. It’s exactly the right sort of significant origin for such a significant object. (Though I wonder how it got to the other worlds… I’m sure there’s a story there…) And of course the villains recognize it only as the Arrow of Chance, because they don’t recognize the signs (such as Micaiah’s prophecy). In actuality, though, it was not chance that slew Ahab. The arrow’s real name, I’m sure, is the Arrow of Providence.

WHY IS THERE A CHERRY ON A STICK IN THIS DRINK? IT’S NOT AS IF IT DOES ANYTHING FOR THE FLAVOR. WHY DOES ANYONE TAKE A PERFECTLY GOOD DRINK AND THEN PUT IN A CHERRY ON A POLE?
HO.HO.HO. :)

I love books. Really do. I flip through my books and then move on to Mommy and Daddy’s books. My favorites are the C.S. Lewis books on a shelf accessible by little people of my height. They’ve stashed the 100 Cupboards series higher up. Guess they don’t want those destroyed.

Dadadadadadada! Mamama! Areuh! Ada! Abada! Goo! TRANSLATION: MY PARENTS WANT ME TO ENTER SO THEY CAN READ THE BOOK I WIN.

Looking forward to book three, even if I have to buy it. Which I probably will.

There are no words to explain just how much I want the book. Then to say how good it is … that is incomprehensible

Whoo Hoo!~Thanks for the opportunity!

All I want for Christmas is The Chestnut King…oooh, please…

This is great! Our family LOVES all of your books. What a great treasure to have this added to our growing collection. Thanks!

My gamblin’ heart is in.

Gracie De Southwell

I won’t beg because if you’re drawing out of a hat (you might need a dumpster for all of these) you realy can’t decide who gets it, and there’s really no reason you should pick me other than:
I have never won a drawing,
this would make a great Christmas gift (then I would have to borrow it),
I could send you cookies (not really, I don’t bribe people).

Grace

P.S. I finished One Hundred (100) Cupboards and then got sick (not because I read it) and was glad to have Dandelion Fire to read.

Hannah Southwell

Unlike my sister, I will not only beg; I will also grovel, snivel and whine. So, since I’m doing all that, you should definitely pick me. To add to the gamut of languages: Malipayong Pasco!

Hannah S.

P.S. That was the Filipino dilect Cebuano and it meant Merry Christmas.

P.P.S. I’m not a Filipina. My mom was an M.K.

I really liked the first two! I’m looking forward to seeing how the story progresses.

P.S. Yeah, that really is my name. :)

pick me!

(I don’t think my comment went through on my first try)

Me, please!

We have a big family. =)

I’m the youngest of ten kids. I can’t even really read yet.

This is a fantastic and exciting way of introducing your new and final book in the series. Kudos to you!!

Last time I entered something using my boss’ name instead of mine, I won. Two for two?!?

I’m commenting for my sister – She absolutely loves Henry York!

I thought I might receive some bell-bottoms in my Christmas stocking to bring back the 70’s but I’d rather have a copy of the Chestnut King…”Solid!” Brother Man–Pick Me.

…banging drums, throwing candy, and strolling into the sun…

Would love to win this for my Summer reading list. Thanks for the opportunity.

“William Tate addresses Chair!” We love that scene, among many others!

Looking forward to Book III.

Me too! (Ben’s wife)

Merry Christmas, Sir!

I liked the first book, but right now its hard to get ahold of Dandlion Fire with several people trying to read it here.

Sarah

I haven’t read the first two yet but I want to and since there are no age or height limits I’m going to enter. PICK ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ruthieeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I am learning to read and am planning ahead, so maybe I will get picked.

Faith

President.

Can’t wait for the book. Loved the other two!
Merry Christmas!

Your work is entertaining for adults as well as children. Classical Christian education works.

I’ve never won anything like this, but I’ll give it a shot . . . well, there was the Goudimel Gummy Guess at our Reformation party . . . does that count?

Merry Christmas!!

Jack would love a book!

Jack’s twin brother! :0)

Can’t leave out big sister!

Yay! It’s out!

It will be cool if I win. I am learning how to read. I like to listen to your stories and I will read them when I get older.

I read your other two and it would be nice to get this one – BEFORE anyone else. Yes! LOL

Another hopeful. My children read the others as fast as greased lightening!

wow, i’m so behind the times. commenter #300-something. oh well. did my husband already comment?

Would simply like to beat my brother at something…. Loved the first two.

I’m officially joining the throng.

Huzzah for the finishing of the final book! I’ve been looking forward to this with great anticipation! Thanks for writing and sharing such a great series! Our whole family loves it!! =)

With great anticipation, I enter my name into the pot.

Enjoyed your other books; would love to get a copy of the new one.

Nate,

I have loved reading all your books out loud to my kids. They are in good company with the Hobbits, assorted dragons, as well as the Pevensie children.

Campbell Matthews

I’ve already got one pre-ordered, but could use another copy so my wife and I don’t have to fight over who gets to have the first go.

Many thanks!

I chose the first book at the library for my son to read in the car on our road trip. He read it all in one day! Then told me “it didn’t tie things up – there must be another book.” So, here I found this site. It cracks me up when my 11-year-old knows more than his mom!
Hope you pick mine!

C’mon hand…find me..I’m one of the chosen..I’m one of the elect..c’mon, c’mon..you’re getting warm..you’re getting warm…YES!! ME!!

My dad thinks he’s going to win..but it’s going to be me..but then again.. that will be both of us..THANKS!!

c’mon hand..c’mon..find me in here..I’m of the elect..I’m one of the chosen.. pick me.. find me..you’re getting warmer..warmer..YES!!!

Hannah & Andrew Howe

Our dad didn’t think his other comment went through so he left it twice..he’s not trying to break the rules..we’re using a different address.. but we’re all still part of the chosen. PICK US PLEASE!!

Please pick me.

I didn’t like Henry York in the first book. But really warmed to him in the
second. The story is what fascinates me. What could be next? I have the
feeling if I understood the ” how to tell a story ” I’d have a clue. You
know like the Pevensies and the robin.
I now have the books on tape as well and am chewing on them..

If I am a choosen one, I would like it really signed by the author. Not
a signed plate. I’m passing it down…..
Merry Christmas!

My name is now in the hat (or pot or dumpster). We’re putting up the tree in a few minutes & hope that your book will soon be under it!

I am the younger brother of an NSA student, and have heard about and read the series. I love it and am eagerly awaiting the third book!

You are one of my favorite authors of all time, I love all your books, and I can’t wait to read The Chestnut King.

I am so excited you wrote another book in this series!!!!
Thank you so much for writing for us! :)

For my daughter’s birthday we gave her Dandelion Fire on audio CD and a card with your picture and the inscription “Love Mom, Dad & ND Wilson”

I’m waiting for my first child to be born – so the book (if I get one) will be for *my* Christmas present.

I am on the edge of my figurative seat waiting for this book!

Sweet cant wait to read it great series! :)

Enjoyed the first two. I read them to my wife at 3 in the morning this summer while she was nursing. He now sleeps through the night but I’ll be staying awake to finish the series, he is teething after all.

I’m so excited to finally find out what’s next!

Looking forward to it.

Comment! I need to win the book so I have a bit of leverage with the NDW fans in the house ;)

Merry Christmas!

Twas brillig, and the slithy toves Did gyre and gimble in the wabe,
all hoping that it was I to whom the book you gave!

Ok, throw my name in that there hat.

My family and I really enjoyed 100 Cupboards and Dandelion Fire! We can’t wait till we read The Chestnut King!

Here’s to a good ending for a good story.
God rest ye merry.

Would love to win.

My sister told me about this and I wanted to enter.

Entering the contest.

Squealing with delight here in Ohio!

Can’t wait for the third book! I’ll share it with my fifth grade LA teacher (but my mom is first).

I love your books about Henry! I am in fourth grade and hope this one is just as exciting as the first two.

I’m five years old and a lot like Henry York.

I know my mom will read your books to me soon…I’m only three but I know a good story when I see it!

Leaving a comment here in the hopes of getting my bookish family off my back! They love this series…

Pick me! We *love* your books!

Comment! I’d love to win! Thanks!

My older sister has the other ones. I haven’t read them yet but would love to soon.
Thanks

I want to win so I can share it with my sisters until I want to read them.
Thank you.

Stephen Henderson

Looking forward to it.

My boys would be thrilled! They can’t wait for book three.

I wanted to let you know, in case you didn’t, Levi Butler commented more than once!!!!!!!

Sounds interesting…hope I win. :)

Pick me!!!!

Enjoyed the first two. Add us to the drawing. If we don’t win, we will still buy the book. We’ll just be a little bummed about having to wait longer. Thanks.

Please, my father put this extra “d” in the middle of my name. Do you know how difficult this is to spell for people?

Here’s my bid!

The probably I will win is extremely low. But I don’t believe in probability. Well, I probably don’t.

Thank you for writing books my mom is willing to read to me.

Annette Hakimian

Book Three…. Yippee!!!

I hope I win. My boys would love to own this book.

I would love to win this (for my wife)! Thanks for the opportunity.

A bunch of boys and their sister are almost as eager as Dad and Mum!

Name, meet hat.

I’m in!

Pick me, pick me!

Bulking up the candidate base :)

Looking forward to the book!

Oh please, oh please……..

My kids love your books! In particular, Leepike Ridge and the 100 Cupboards books were very helpful in encouraging one of my sons to dive into books like never before (earlier this year). Now he’s convinced you’re the greatest author ever. :-) Additionally, I had the privilege of reading Notes from the Tilt-a-Whirl over our family vacation this past September. No time or space to go into a full review here, but I thought your approach was excellent, and enjoyed the laugh-out-loud moments. (loved the butterfly)

For my kids!

Priscilla Gatchell

Entered.

Lindsay Gatchell

And me.

Luke A. Gatchell

Me too!

Yet another.

Westley Gatchell

And the last that has an email address..

Yes! I’m leaving the country by January 26 and this would be a surefire way to finish up the trilogy without a long wait.

Count me in! That is, me, my wife Bonnie, and our three children: Samuel (7), Margaret (6), and Rachel (3).

Thanks!

I think it was predestined before the foundations of the earth for you to pick me…I think.

Oooh. Still almost a one percent chance! We’ve been looking forward to this book….

The three kids and I have read aloud Leepike, 100 cupboards, & Dandelion Fire together, ready for this one.

Pick me!!!

I want one. Really!

We’ve enjoyed your books, thanks!

I hope we win.

I never win raffles like this, but who knows? You can’t win if you don’t play.

Chances are slim, but it is the Season of Hope and Expectation.

Ok, 442 comments later and I finally find out about this. Put me in the hat.

I’d like a copy!

Enter me for the book.
Thanks!

I can’t wait to read the finale.

When will these hit the big screen?

I’m 9 years old and reading “Leepike Ridge” right now. It’s great!

You should feel sorry for me and pick me because I go to Liberty University.

I’d like a copy!

Me too!

I’d like one too!

You could, of course, pick me, because I’ve read your work since you were a teenager writing indecipherable fiction in Credenda/Agenda. How’s that!?

One of the many.

Professor. You are a treasure. I thank GOD for you and your father.

My husband and I are reading your series together!

Here is one (1) comment.

My Dad told me to use his email. I Love your books and I would love to win this contest. I am actualy a student of Jenny Rallens, who is one of your students from college. :) I am 11 and I waaaaaaaaaaaaant that book, please. Not to be rude

Plese me.

Please pick me, I am 11

your books are awsome sounding out loud.

I am a student of Jenny Rallens, who WAS one of your students:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

i’d like a copy!
:)

Ha! Congratulate me on successfully avoiding the multiple-people-with-the-same-name problem.

I think is entry 433. What a great number.

Pick me! I could be in danger if you don’t…

I neeeeed this book :0)

Last but not least…count me in!

I hope I’m not too late! I loved the first two books.

6 kids in this fam that would lovingly take turns :)

My wife would love to have the book – and I believe she entered the contest somewhere above.

Looking forward to reading the final in the series with my children.

I’d like to win this book. Yep.

one entry for me

Wow. I’m entering just in time. ^-^ I love your books and would LOVE to win!

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

My kids have read your first two but I don’t like reading trilogies until I have them all in hand. I would love to win the third and start reading!

This sounds good

I don’t believe in luck, so here’s hoping that the Lord has predestined me to be one of the chosen ones.

I would like a copy to give to my children, but given the number of people who have responded, the odds are significantly against me (just speaking mathematically)

I am good with a bucket. I will defeat the ocean.

I would like the book.

I’M SO HAPPY! Your books are azazing!

Defeat the circut and Win!

Nate Wilson, I love your creative descriptions and lively writing style! I look forward to reading The Chestnut King, whenever I get it. (asap =D)

Favorite quote:
“There would be no scooting.”
~ from Leepike Ridge

Nate,
Great stories! Love them! Can’t wait for the next one! When’s the movie?

would like to hear some more tales from Kansas

I’d love to have one to read to my little siblings.

I have 2 sons and 8 grandchildren all waiting for the completion of the trilogy. I would love to win a copy and make someone happy!

My 12-year-old son Joseph says, “N.D. Wilson is my favorite author.” We watched “Collision” and when he found out “N.D.” was Doug’s son, he thought Doug was pretty lucky.

Send it to me so that I can taunt my son. Bwahahahah! This is a truly noble cause.

Why “Hello” to Henry York? Why not Goodbye, since this is the last book?Do you have some sort of cyclical view of history, like the Hindus? Or maybe you’re going to have some sort of Chiasm, where you come back to the beginning of the book. Anyway, I look forward to winning. And “giveaway?” “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means”
(does verbosity/garrulity/loquacity/protractedness increase your ‘chances’?)
I’ll stop babbling now.
Bye

Here’s hoping. I’ve enjoyed the series so far.

I don’t know the criterion, but I see the need…my children loved these books and it has gotten them reading like never before…this is for them…Joel and Joseph, a bowl of popcorn and family on the couch.

My little boy, Isaiah, 10, would love to win this book!! He adored the Hundred Cupboards and Lee Pike Ridge. (Actually, his parents enjoyed reading the books too even though we know they’re written for kid.) Isaiah wants to be the president someday, so if you pick him, maybe just maybe you are giving the book to the future president. His dad feels that whatever he’ll do with his life, learning Greek and reading Calvin’s commentaries are what he wants his 10 year old doing…and some good quality fiction thrown in there.

Please enter my name into the large pot

The large pot beckons this comment.

It is my tradition (for the last 25% of my life or so) to read one whole book every December 25th, so if you pick me, I’ll see if I can read this book in one day (between opening presents and helping with and eating turkey dinner).

I don’t stand a chance do I?

We are eager to read your book, and hey we are all for free! I probably would just wrap the book up and give it to myself though.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! That’s my one year old’s comment. Does that count, or is that just cheating?

If you pick me I’ll be your bestest buddy forever! ;)

look forward to reading it!

great series so far

my mommy will read it to me :)

i can almost read it myself!

gah gah gah… i’m sure i’ll love it someday when i can talk :)

I love reading your stories!! My love began with “Pookies”.

going once, going twice, free time, and given to me!!!

I need this. I have twenty grandchildren!

I would love to win your book! Mummy would read it to me!

I would really like your new book :)

If I win, you can just give it to my son at NSA and he’ll bring it home. See, you won’t even have to pay postage!

Same here. Can’t wait to read it!

can’t wait!!

me too!!

Doesn’t hurt to try…

This isn’t for the kids, they’ll get to read it when I’m finished.

Looking forward to the new book. Either way we will read it but an advance copy would be nice.

Please enter my name in the drawing.

Not that I’m trying to sway things, but tomorrow is my birthday. :)
