The Chestnut King Says “Hello” from Merry Olde NYC

I have been doing a lot of gallivanting recently, and it has kept me from blogging (as if I needed keeping). First, a little TV project (not book related) took me to Italia, and then Londontown (a place I enjoy), and then to the ancient walled city of Jerusalem (which I loved, and must see again).

Now, I’m in NYC, and this time my travel is very book related.

The Chestnut King has invaded a bookstore (or website, or Target near you). And so I blog! How else could I tell you get your copy immediately. And if you can’t run right out, here’s a tip, have a mailman bring you one.

I know, I’m hardly objective, but I like this book a whole lot. It makes me happy. It makes me shiver. It doesn’t give me nightmares, but portions of it were inspired by one (no, I’m not telling which portions). Henry and Henrietta and all their many friends, foes, and family members have arrived at an ending that resonates with me–I hope it does with you.

(Hint: In the end everyone dies.)

I ran right out to get mine yesterday!! I’m already half way through it!!! I LOVE your writing and I’m so sad that this is the end. Part of me thinks I should read slowly so that I can spread out my enjoyment but I just can’t stop reading!!! Please write more series!! Thank you for bringing Henry and his whole world to life!! You are an AWESOME writer! :0)

But I hate books where everyone dies!

We’re waiting on the mailman here… :)

Good. I like devastatingly sad books – Dickens comes to mind. Can’t wait.

Picked it up at B&N yesterday. One of the clerks who saw me holding it seemed very proud of himself when he told me it “just came out today.”
Trying to keep the smugness out of my voice, I replied, ” I know, I’ve been waiting for weeks.”
I did get through the first few chapters and I have to say that I don’t know if I’ve ever laughed harder reading a book than when I read the conversation between Richard and Henry about “the girls”. Richard always makes me laugh, but that episode was hysterical.

In keeping with the mindset of the persistent widow, I was thinking that if you’re were heading back to Idaho from NY, you might pass over or by Milwaukee. My fourth graders would like to speak with you. And so would I.

Can’t wait to get it from the library!

Ooooh, don’t TAUNT me like that! I’m absolutely broke, and there they sit…brand new volumes of shiny wonderfulness…just ten minutes away, on a Hastings shelf…I hear them crying out my name…*Bob-the-tomato- translating-Larry’s-Spanish-ballad-voice*…but I…can’t.

(Can’t even whistle.)

I meant to write something in that last comment. I bought it at Canon about noon the day it came out, stayed up most of the night and finished before lunch the next day. Loved it. Answered all of my questions in a very satisfying way. Thanks NDW.

I just finished it this eve. Phenomenal book. Phenomenal series. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It finishes like 40 year old tawny after balsamic and fennel glazed tri-tip. Thank you for the feast.

Just finished The Chestnut King.

Thank you for that.

Great book! (Just finished it…)

I absolutely loved the gorgeous contrast of light and dark in the very wording of the entire book… and all the glorious revelations of truth blooming singly throughout and in clusters at the end. What more can I say? I wept during Lady Anastasia’s granting of the birthday gift, which is more than I have done for any book in longer than I can remember. Cried, yes, but not wept. The characters seemed to me to be constructed in such a way as to make the reader feel a part of the family.

Thank you for this noble gift to modern literature, and please, please, please keep on writing!

I was recovering from being sick when I got mine,I pre-ordered, so I read it in less than a day and LOVED it! It was a *very* satisfying ending!

My family just finished The Chestnut King yesterday, and I LOVED it. Thank you very much for writing this trilogy. It has brightened many of my dark days, challenged me to work harder at my own writing, convinced me to join a softball team, and forever confirmed me in my dislike of cats. :-) I am eagerly anticipating your next book. Please don’t make me wait too long!

I just finished Chestnut King a little while ago and it met all my expectations ( in a good way) as well as blew some of them ( also in a good way- the alien abduction hype- LOL!)
I have to say I’m really glad that you maintained the connection to Kansas at the end because your books made me fall in love with good old Henry and I would have been sorry if the characters went off to Hylfing forever and never saw it again.
sidenote- you came to my school Coloarado Springs Christian when I was in 8th grade two years ago. I mentioned to you that a nickname for Henrietta was Hetty and I saw that in the book Una used that name. That probably had nothing to do with me, but I appreciate it any way. Thanks for the book! Come back to my school!

Hey, everybody! If anyone writes anything else after mine, NO SPOILERS!!!

Mr. Wilson,
I already LOVE Chestnut King! I am not done with it yet though. Can’t wait to see how it ends, and I also don’t want it to end! Have you ever thought of writing spin offs, or another series about the cupboards? Everybody at school would just LOVE that! Thanks!

P.S. Everybody! Just making sure you know but

NO SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!
