River Thief DVD and Blu-Ray
What if the best day of your life was your last?
A full-length Christian feature film written and directed by N.D. Wilson.
Diz (Joel Courtney, Super 8) is a reckless teenage drifter living life on the run. Abandoned by his parents as a child, he looks out for himself and doesn't accept handouts. He takes whatever he wants and runs. Jaded and determined to answer to no one, Diz lives a life marked by thievery and abandonment.
Things change for Diz when he floats into a small town on the Snake River. There he is confronted by an unflappable old man named Marty (Tommy Cash) and falls for Marty's guarded granddaughter, Selah (Raleigh Cain). When Diz robs a local drug-dealing crazy, he becomes the owner of a giant pile of cash and the target of two vicious killers.
With more money than he knows what to do with, and criminals at his heels, Diz puts the people he's learned to care about in danger, still trying to win Selah. But some things can't be stolen or bought. The River Thief is a film about guilt, self-sacrifice, and accepting life as a gift.
What People Are Saying:
"For this I was born. To bear witness to the truth. Bend your damned neck. Not your grandma’s movie. Neither was the crucifixion. RiverThief." -John Piper
"In a very real sense The River Thief embodies the paradoxical nature of the grace of which it speaks; it exists in a kind of uncharted territory in filmmaking. It is simultaneously too faith-based for a major production company and too honest for a faith-based company. To put it another way, the frankness with which The River Thief handles its explicitly Christian themes and underpinnings is typically a characteristic of faith-based films; yet the film’s depiction of evil, its representations of violence, as well as its refusal to settle for an easy and cheap narrative resolution puts it fundamentally at odds with the faith-based filmmaking industry. N.D. Wilson has charted a bold new path that Christians making faith-based films would do well to follow: much like the parable after which it’s patterned, the message of The River Thief is secondary to its storytelling, which only serves to make its message more powerful." -Christ and Pop Culture
